Had to reload XP Professional (long story). Reloaded XP Professional but
now when I try to go out and get updates, I get error: 0x8007043b. When I
did a search for resolution, I didn't see that error listed. Any help will
be greatly appreciated! Thx, Ellen

Hi Vinson - Tried the steps in the resolution but when it came to pressing
"start" (last step), got the following error: Could not start the Background
Intelligent Transfer Service on Local Computer. Error: 1083 The executable
program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the
service.
More ideas? Thx! Ellen

Was this a Repair of XP or a reformat/reinstall ?
Is there a Symantec 'product' installed ?

First step is to see if registering these files resolves the error:
1. Click Start > Run, type

regsvr32 qmgr.dll,

Click OK

2. Click Start > Run, type

regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll

Click OK

3. Click Start > Run, type

services.msc

Click OK

4. Click on Background Intelligent Transfer Service [BITS]
5. In the frame to the left of it, click Start the service
BITS can be set to either Manual or Automatic for Startup type
