I note several others in the forum have a similar problem -
the Beta fails to download updated signature files, either
manually or automatically. Error message I get is "could
not connect to internet" but connection is definitely open
(in this case broadband, but also fails on 56K).

Any solution???
Thanx

Check if the Internet Explorer is not set to work off-line. If it is, set it
to work on-line and try to update again.

Hi,

On this one, how do I update the signature files for
Microsoft Anti-Spyware? Are these available for download?
I would imagine that spyware in many forms is growing out
in the WWW and this tool would need to be upto date to
keep up with the growing mass of spyware out there.

Thanks
Ben

Hello,

just run MSAS and click the Spyware Definitions on the Summary screen - it
will start update process. Then if you want the MSAS to do it automatically
just go to the Options-> Settings and set proper values in the AutoUpdater
section.
As far as I know there is no possibility to "manually" download the updates
(ie. go to a web site and click a link), but I might be wrong.

Hi again,

Ok I will try that. However, the machine(s) I want to
update are running on a network on a Domain. Updates from
the Internet are blocked at firewall level so I don't
think I can update from the application. Will there be a
way to copy updates from the website in the near future?

Thanks
Ben

Hello again,

I think this is a question for MSAS Team only and/or maybe a suggested
feature for the next releases of MSAS..

I had the same problem then I remenbered the macafee anti
virus 8.0 can block apps from downloading from the internet.

Andy.
