Updated office 97 to office 2000

At work I recently updated my XP machine from office 97 to office 200
and now I cannot open attachments in Microsoft Outlook.
I can either save the attachments elsewhere and they will open or dra
them to my desktop and they will open there.
If anyone has any ideas I sure would appreciate some help

It's a security setting in Outlook.

Read the above article. It explains the reasons.
But more importantly...since you replied about a company machine(i.e not your personal property), it might be wise, prior to blindly changing anything(i.e. tampering) to discuss available options with your system administrator to avoid any repercussions including those impacting your employment status.
