i had xp home, then installed pro. Why in windows update is it updating with all the same security issues or others as home already did? is it necessary to continue? Thanks for the help

Actually - the same updates.. But I think what they are asking OP) is why
have they downloaded all of these updates for home before the upgrade and
they have to do it again? Simple.. You installed XP Professional over XP
home and unless you made the CD yourself and did a lot of slipstreaming of
patches, you will have lost the patches. Just go with the flow and get that
machine patched up. =)
