Update

When I try to update windows i get a message
saying 'svchost' has generated errors. Please restart your
computer. I have re-loaded Windows but problem persists.

How can I resolve problem as I cannot download updates?

Geoff:

You may have a worm. If you have \winnt\system32
\wins\svchost.exe, then you've probably been infected.
Try deleting it, rebooting and re-running the update.
