Update XP Home with Pro CD?

I currently have Windows XP Home edition installed on my computer, which does not support Remote Desktop. I have a complete version of XP Professional on disc, but I'd rather not back up all my files and reformat and install it. Is there a way to update using the Pro CD, perhaps? If so, how do I do that? If not, then what are my options?

Yes you should be able to do an upgrade from Home Ed to Pro.

Hi Chris

Whilst in XP home just pop in CD (as long as it is on autorun) XP install
will start and make sure chose upgrade.

It must be a Retail copy and not an OEM disk.

Just what I was going to chime in about: If you do this (and I'd recommend
it)--be certain to apply SP1 (and all other offered critical updates)
immediately after the upgrade. Certain features of the OS won't work until
you do this.

(and before you do any of that, be sure you are behind a firewall, or have
activated the Internet Connection Firewall on the Internet connection.!)
