Update won't install

Hi, for some reason "Security Update for Windows XP (KB917953)" could not
install on my computer. No details are given I simply keep getting the box
popping up and saying "The following updates were not installed". I tried
contacting microsoft support but I was unsuccessful. I have downloaded an
installed it manually but still nothing has changed. What can I do? Thanks

Try posting in microsoft.public.windowsupdate and you will get more expert
help.
