Hi,
I see a lot of people have problems with updating the definitions for
Windows Defender Beta 2. In my particular case I received the error
0x8024002b when checking for updates. According to the errors in
c:\windows\windowsupdate.log the Automatic Update service was connecting to
my company's SUS server. But unfortunatly the SUS server does not have
Windows Defender updates available.
Perhaps I've looked in the wrong places, but I can't find information about
whether SUS supports Windows Defender (or what do I have to do to make it
work with SUS) or if only WUS is supported.
Can someone point me in the right direction? At this point we can only
manually update via Microsoft Update/Windows Update on the web, but only when
the user has local administration rights.
I wish Beta 2 had some kind of override function to retreive updates
directly from the internet instead of finding out the company uses a SUS
server. I forsee a lot of problems with users that are on the road for a long
time, and do not connect to the company's internal network. These users
aren't able to get in a normal way the updates for Windows Defender. Perhaps
a suggestion for Beta 3 or the final release.
