Update to Media Player 9

I updated Windows Media Player from version 8 to version
9. At the end of installation, I received a message
indicating that setup could not complete on my computer,
and I should re-run setup. I get the same message every
tim eI run setup. When trying to open the program, it
goes through the user preferences, then an error message
appears "an internal application error has oocurred.
Media Player will not open up. Any ideas?

Maybe open windows components in add/remove,uncheck the
box for the player,close out,restart computer.Back on desktop,
recheck the box,then download.
