I saw a post here about the first version of TaskArrange some time ago,
so I thought I'd let you know there's a new version out. It has better
support for WinXP now, plus some other minor things.

I already have some things in mind for the next version, mainly the
ability to predefine specific arrangements and apply them automatically.
Suggestions are welcome.

one feature i would love is one similar to what winxp does but with full
control, so that say i can stack any number of apps under one button but
leave other buttons out in the free.

This isn't possible with the built-in taskbar, I'm afraid.

so you would have to in effect code a new taskbar and have it take over
the job of the existing taskbar?

Exactly. It's possible, but quite tricky.

damn, explain why the only app i know that does something similar is
taskbar executive, and its shareware at best...

I guess nobody bothered writing such a freeware program. They'd have to
reverse-engineer the way the taskbar works, and this takes considerable
effort. I may give it a try sometime :D
