Microsoft included 811493 in this rollup update. 811493 caused lockups
every time I tried it. I wonder if this new update fixes this problem?
Anybody tried it yet?

Microsoft released a revised version of the 811493 security
update for Windows XP SP1 to address this problem. The
revised version is included in the rollup update package.

Antonio, I got the 826939 rollup yesterday, Oct 16 ,and everything seems to
work fine on my XP home.
Either I misunderstood , or was misinformed , that it was supposed to
assimilate all previous Hot Fixes. This does not seem to be so on my XPhome.
826939 shows as a Hot fix and I still have several additional Hot Fixes, as
well as 4 that show as (SP2 ) in a Q series.
What ever these all are , and what ever they are supposed to do , like I
said , so far everything seems to be in order. Fortunately, I somehow missed
that problem causing Hot Fix, so guess I got off lucky.

811493 was fixed, it should no longer be a problem.

I'm afraid the fixed fix still doesn't work. There are still lockups,
and this time by removing the rollup all the patches included in it
will be lost!
Will Microsoft REALLY fix the 811493, or just leave it out of SP2?
Maybe add an option to select which fixes to install?

Regards,
António

The same is true for my machine: 811493 is definitely NOT FIXED - this
is also true for the version included within 826939. I had formerly
installed 811493 (the original as well as the - supposed to be -
"fixed" version but encountered severe system slow downs as well as
freeze situations. I deinstalled 811493 and had no longer any
problems. Now I installed 826939 and had exactly the same problems. I
deinstalled 826939 and manually installed all included fixes with the
exception of 811493 - guess what - everything works fine now ...
Somebody should tell MS that 811493 has definitely a problem on some
machines and should either be fixed correctly or at least not included
within rollup packages ... .
