Not sure this is the right newsgroup, but...

I've been trying to do an update, and keep getting an error message. Went
through the troubleshooter and forum messages, and was directed to a message
from someone who'd experienced the same problem (a newly installed printer
driver was causing the error...I recently installed the same printer).

The solution was to change the dates in the system registry. But here's my
problem. I am petrified with the thought of messing with the registry. I've
read through various help files and kb articles, but it's still a
frightening prospect.

Can anyone provide a link to a "systems registry for dummies" type of
article? I would really appreciate it!

Thanks,

Carol

Hi Carol, Yep I know what you mean about tinkering with the registry, but
really it's no big deal, As long as you backup the registry first and save
to your desktop (that way if things do go awry you can revert back)

Once backed up you can then carry out your edit using the details that you
have received and close the registry

once you are sure that all is OK you delete the backup

Job done
