Update problems

When I go to the Micro$oft Windows update page, I get the following:

"Access Denied. Network policy settings prevent you from using Windows
Update to download and install updates on your computer. If you
believe you have received this message in error, please check with
your system administrator."

I"m confused. I'm not on a network, I'm the only user of this
computer, and the log-on screen only has one log-on name showing -
mine. What's happening? Why can't I update? This has only been
happening for the last week or so. Help!

Download the VBS file association fix and apply it:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/fileassoc/xp_vbs_file_association.zip

Now, run the VBS you downloaded earlier.

I struck out. Downloaded as per instructions, and got the old standby
message: "Windows cannot open this file, etc...". I suppose I'm stuck
with a re-install...
