Update Problems and NO SERVICE (beta or not)

This update problem is quite scary. First, signature updates do not work as
described by almost everyone for weeks now. Some hacks are offered -
including links to .exe files that people should run. Does anybody realize
the security risks???

Microsoft should post an update to the Defender program (not the signatures)
to fix this once and for all. Users cannot wait 4 weeks or more for a
security program to be fixed!!!

Beta or not.

My version didn't cost anything, so far; on the filp, it doesn't do anything either. I guess that is a break even split.

I believe it's priced about right; any higher no one would want it; any lower, they couldn't afford to sell it. :/

Hi Dan

WD is working........ either a user which wants Real Time Protection
buys a program like Ewido, Counterspy or SpySweeper (the 3 best IMHO )

Another alternative is to use WD, perhaps there is some "stupid" bugs
but WD is working.

For just scannings I have other alternatives ;)

See this test: ( I haven´t tested Spyfalcon again but I´m nearly sure
that MS has included Spyfalcon for a RTP block)

WD works !

It works... I just haven't seen it do anything... :)

I'll have to take that back, I just saw it's systray icon trying to tell me that a scan hadn't been performed in 3 days. I hit the Scan Now, and got an error about a bad pointer (must be one of them bugs). However, Quick Scan ran OK.

I don't believe I ever saw the like of bugs... where's the diazinon? :)

Hi

Well... I maybe perform a weekly scan, sometimes...

Bad pointer is one bug but WD works anyway.....

No need for diazinon ;)

But maybe to think a little before any clicks.....

I take it back with Spyfalcon which was announced within another
message......... put a "burner" in the back for MS malware folks.

In general, update issues can be taken care of by either visiting Windows
Update, or by the resolution steps in this KB article:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=915105

I don't believe I'd call either method a hack.

I share your concern about posting an executable.

Definition updates do work for most users.
