Update Problem

For several days now, when I boot my computer, the "Update are Ready" message
comes on saying new updates are ready. It is always for Defender KB 915597.
The first few times I "installed" it but the next day it said that exact
update was ready to be installed, again. One day it came on several times
through out the day wanting to install this exact same update.
Advice please.

Hi

You might try this. It still works for me every time an update is available.

Click on you Start button
Click on Run
In the text box type in the following:

Msiexec /x {A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C}

Click on OK
I think you click on OK again. Anyway you want to uninstall the definition
file.

Open Windows Defender
Click on the little down arrow next to the blue question mark at top of screen
Click on About Windows Defender
Click on the Check For Updates

I hope this works for you but it all depends on what version you are
currently running. The About Windows Defender lists these 3 for myself on my
machine.

Windows Defender Version: 1.1.1347.0
Engine Version: 1.1.1440.0
Definition Version: 1.14.1459.12

If the 1st 2 are all right this procedure should probably work. Otherwise
something else will have to be done.

(Personally - I don't do the Automatic Updates through Microsoft Update. I
just check the Newsgroup here to see if an update is available, then do the
above. MS Update doesn't wotk for me with your mentioned KBxxxxxx critical
fix.) Hope this helps you.
