Update Problem

Everything worked fine until the last Windows updates for
XP were installed (not that this necessarily had any
effect). Now, my Antispyware (beta) will not update. I
even uninstalled and downloaded a new one, but the same
problem. If I am online, I cannot load the main program,
(probably because of the update problem). When I click
on "update" the window pops up as it should, but hangs in
a "contacting server" mode and I must kill it the hard
way. Note: when I am offline, the main program loads fine
and operates great, but the updates are dead. I have a
dial-up system using CompuServe and a Zone Alarm firewall
that hasn't caused any problem before.

I disabled Zone Alarm (and Win FW is also disabled), but
nothing changed. Note: the actions leading up to this
problem were strange. I did like always and tried to do a
manual update. The update started and said it was
updating with the normal number groups. I waited as usual
(there is no progress bar or numbers in the update
routine), but after 20 ro 30 minutes nothing changed--my
system is very slow anyway but this wasn't working. The
next time I tried, the update did not connect with the
server. The next day I tried and the first time it found
the update and tried to download again, but no success.
The next time I tried, it connected and said there was no
updates (little yellow stars); this is absolutely wrong.
Now, it doesn't connect with the server at all.

Problem solved! I uninstalled the program INCLUDING
items in the search routine. I installed a new version
and now everything works! Thanks everyone for your help!
