Update on my previous problems

A while ago I had posted here that I had some major issues with a newly
built PC.

Well, to give everyone an update, my sister knows this guy who is pretty
handy with computers. I explained to him the problems and he offered to
take a look at it. He carefully examined the processor and noticed one of
the pins was missing. He then checked the slot on the motherboard and found
the missing pin broken off in one of the slots. He was just barely able to
get it out with a pair of tweezers.
He said that the first time I put it in I may have put it in the wrong way.
Like I said in my original post the is my first time building my own pc so I
admit I probably screwed up. Unfortunately, he said that this probably
would have shorted out the processor and therefore it is no longer any good.
I doubt this would be covered under Intel's warranty since I installed it
wrong, but I figure it wouldn't hurt to try which I will do when I get a
chance. If not I will just buy a brand new one and this time make damn sure
I install it correctly.

"Homey" offers a service to repair processor pins. I don't know
how he does it, or how fragile they are after being repaired.
I'm just amazed he can work amongst all those pins!

Paul, thanks for the link. However, as I stated in my op, the person who
checked out my pc said that since the processor may have been put in wrong
one time this most likely would have shorted out the processor. Therefore,
I don't believe that simply fixing the pin would help.
