Update McAfee via GPO

I have some workstations that need to have McAfee Virus Scan updated. The
users of those workstations don't have permissions per McAfee itself. I was
wondering if there is a way to update these workstations when the "users" of
those workstations are logged in. Comments are appreciated.

You have a couple of options...

No you cannot update the software when users logon, but you can:

1. Write a startup script for the computer to install at boot up.
2. Deploy McAfee using GP based software installation.
 
The only way I can see to update this software is via the "update" feature
in the GUI. I was wondering if you know of a .msi or something that will
update the software for me so I can script it at boot. The users of these
workstations have limited privileges so they can't update the software
through the update feature. There has to be a way around this. Still
searching. Thanks for any replies in advance.

If you have the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator, you can roll out the client to
all of the computers on your own whim (and specify which credentials it
should use to install the software). It would also be beneficial to you in
that you won't have x number of computers going out to the internet to get
the updated virus signatures--you have a local source on your own network.

Is the update an exe? Are there commandline switches? use the '/?'
switch if it is an exe. There may be a way to install this as a
startup script. Startup scripts are run in system context so limited
user rights are not a problem
