Update log?

N

Nancy

Is there a place to view what updates have been installed on my XP computer?
I can't find an update log anywhere.

The reason I'm asking is that my husband told me that when he got up, the
computer had done an update and automatically rebooted (without input from
us). I want to find out if it was an actual update or something else. WD did
a scan on Tues morning, but not this morning (Wed).

Nothing was found on Tues.

Thanks

There may be a better way than this, but this seems to work:

Go to:
Start > My Computer > Right click and select Manage > Select 'Event Viewer'
Select 'System' > click 'View' in the toolbar at the top, and select
'Filter' > click on 'Event source and scroll down to 'Windows update agent' >
click Apply > click OK. You'll see a list of update events. If you right
click on each update event, you'll get details of what the update was.

Phew! Hope I got all that right!

Alternatively, go to the Windows Update website and click the link to get
your update history.

Thanks! I found it. Still doesn't tell me why the update installed when I
didn't do anything - or why it rebooted without my input. I did discover
that there were two updates released last night and they installed.

I have update set to download but let me choose when to install an update.

Click start button > Go to your Run box and type in Windowsupdate.log and
scroll down to find your update, should be very close to the bottom.
