Update Issue

My question is regarding the update issue.....Is there any word on an
alternative update source? My company restricts Windows Update and uses a
third party patch management solution.....so WSUS is not an option for us.

There's a message in .install from Simon Zerafa dated February 25th with a
manual workaround--I believe the download filename and location can be
grabbed from the Windows Update log on a machine which has WU access.

I don't expect Microsoft to publicize a workaround which enables corporate
users to do an end-run around the management of their networks.

So then are they saying that this product is only available to networks using
WSUS? Most large networks do not allow access to Win Updates through the
web...so then is this aimed at smaller networks? If so...I think it is a
shame since it has been a great product so far!

The point of WSUS is to update all the workstations. If you are using a
third party to do this, then the third part software will need to be updated
to allow this program (this assums the program will even look for other
updates which is not alays the case and is why WSUS is the best available)

SUS dies in December of this year, I believe, so anyone still using it
should have a plan for the migration in hand.
