update .htaccess using MS FP?

A few questions about FP 2003's interaction with .htaccess

I know FP updates the .htaccess file when you create a site. Once it
creates the site, will it have issues if I later manually change the
..htaccess file by adding "deny from" entries? Also, if I put a copy in
the root directory of a web on my dev platform, will it update it
properly to the site when I publish to the production server? Or will
it have issues and/or write over the file with its own version?

FP will not upload the .htaccess file. In fact you will not even see it in
your fp directory - at least I don't. Be careful editing it. See

Thanks Pat. If it's known that it does not update it after the initial
change, then that's fine. I just don't want it corrupting my hard
work.
