I installed release 4940 on trial basis. Configured it to take full backups
only with a limit of 4 backups and to validate once backup completed. It
appears to be about 10% faster than Norton Ghost 10 but I found 2 problems

1. When the 5th backup was taken, the oldest one was not deleted. Same
story when I took the 6th backup.

2. When a full backup completed the current backup was validated but it
re-validated all the prior full backups.

I reported both problems to Acronis and was told development had been
notified but no further communications.

Not being a huge fan of Symantec, I'd like to use Acronis but those 2
problems make it a non-starter for unattended backups so I will continue to
use Norton Ghost 10 until the problems fixed.

Are these 2 problems fixed in 4942?

Thanks

Lou

I tried it on a partition encrypted with a full disk encryption application.
I was backing up within Vista.
It wanted to save the image as RAW, in other words, save all 80gb as
uncompressed space, when there is only 10gb of data on the disk.
Vista complete PC backup on the other hand will backup just the data &
restore it perfectly.
So I won't be using True Image.
If I were backing up from the boot disk I could understand this, but not
within Windows.
Funny how the Vista backuo tool has no problem doing it.
