1) Put the Windows 2000 Pro CD in and reboot.
2) Boot from the CD.
3) Choose Repair installation when prompted
4) Choose Repair from console
5) Enter the directory Windows2000(or whatever yours is)
\$NtUninstallKB835732$\spuninst using the 'cd' command
6) Enter the command Batch spuninst.txt
7) It may say access denied and that files are being
copied.
8) When it's finished, reboot, and allow Windows to load.
9) Uninstall the update (for good!) from Add/Remove
Programs in the Control Panel.
I got lost at step 5. I am to enter "cd" to change
directory? Then what? Can anyone make this idiot proof for
me? Thanks for any help

5. After the prompt enter:

cd $NtUninstallKB835732$\spuninst

6. then after the prompt, enter:

batch spuninst.txt

7. you will get a few access denied and a lot of file copies

8. at the prompt, enter:

exit

now the system will boot

9. go to system panel, add/remove programs, etc ...

Thanks, it works again!!!

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure if this matters but
I didn't know how to boot from the Win2k cd so I made 4
boot disks for boot and was able to boot and get to step
4. But after the prompt I am only allowed to enter one
character, I type "cd" and only the "c" appears and I am
not able to enter any more characters. I am toast like my
computer.

Boot from CD:

Switch on your system,
enter the BIOS setup BEFORE W2k starts loading
(On my dell computer I have to hit the F2 key)
Look for an entry boot sequence
and change the order of the devices: first CD, then HD
exit setup and your PC will boot from the CD
