There isn't (yet ?) any zip version. :-(

The explanation is given here :

..html

<quote>
Some people have been wondering why there are no .zip files for the
Firefox and Thunderbird 1.0.2 releases. The reason for this is that
the Mozilla Foundation has discontinued issuing them for our major
releases to avoid the user confusion it was causing.
</quote>

And for those who thought they could handle properly a zipped
version of firefox ?!

This means to me that if you want a portable version of the
_genuine_ firefox, you can forget about it. Too bad.

Some might think about the unofficial portable version of firefox
maintained by John Haller :
http://johnhaller.com/jh/mozilla/portable_firefox/

but :
- This built isn't as constantly updated, maintained and patched
- This built is based on sources which are different from the
99.999% trusty mozilla.org's sources.

Why not read the rest of the article that you yourself posted?

"If you're a Mozilla developer and love the .zip files, rest assured
they aren't going away completely. While we won't issue the .zip package
with the rest of the major release files, we will still issue these
packages in their standard nightly form."

Because (see my last post before this one), those nightly aren't
apparently exactly the same as the official builds.

Just curious, why do you require a zip version?

For 2 main reasons :

- portability
- execution of ff on computers I have no installation rights on

I know. They're better.

At one time I was of the ilk that would go for the nightly builds of
Firefox rather than the official releases. After encountering more than
one of these builds that was too buggy to run properly, I now stick with
the milestone versions.
