update.exe

Can any one please help - for the last week or so my sons computer has been
running very slowly. When I press Control -Alt and Delete and then click on
performance the CPU is running at 100% and looking that the processes
something called update.exe is using about 50-60% along with System using the
remainder I've tried highlighting update.exe and then end process but it
keeps running.

Any ideas please???
