update error

every time I open my computer (after auto-updating failed)
I get a window telling me error has occured followed by a
little box telling me something ridiculous and absurd and
an "ok" box also.
I click x in the top right corner and it all dissapears
again.
EVERY TIME I open my pc this process is repeated!
I am very unhappy, so could some kind person help me- in
plain english- to rectify this error thing which has
nothing to do with me reall; I want it "gone"!

same problem, need solution.

I noticed the winupdate.exe error popup after an Earthlink
upgrade. I have tried disabling winupdate but it won't go
away.
