update doesn't recognize my internet connection

I cannot update as for some reason, the program does not
recognize my internet connection. This has gone on for
over a week and I do not currently have the latest
definitions. I do not have this problem with any other
program. Any ideas? TIA

Check if the Internet Explorer is not set to work off-line. If it is, set it
to work on-line and try update again.
 
I have the same problem. I am constantly online. So that
does not cause it.

Have you tried to repair MSAS installation (through the Control Panel->
Add/Remove programs-> MSAS-> repair)? (however it's a guess only)
 
The real problem might be 3rd-firewall that has not been
told to give MSAS 2-way access to the internet i.e. let it
act as a server.
