Hi all
I use Office Pro 2000 under XP and have done so since both products were
released. This problem is as old as that.. However my pst file has come
through several generations of office product over the years back to Windows
95.
When I send emails in html format the system generates any number of
spurious attachments, all almost blank web pages named Header which is a
document I recognise as being used in one or more web pages I manage on my
system..
With Windows explorer I have searched my machine for every such document
which occurs in unexpected places (i.e. not in the actual web site) and
deleteded it. This slows the incidence but it gradually builds up again
until I am typically sending 10 or more with every html email. At this point
my friends start complaining and I turn html off..
I have discussed it with Microsft as an incident. Under their instructions,
I have run repairs on my PST file. Subsequently they were persuaded that the
document is being generated within my profile. I have started a new profile
on a couple of occasions following their instructions. However to carry on
working I have to reimport addresses and some back mail at some stage. As
soon as I do this the problem returns. The only way to get rid of the
problem according to Microsoft is to throw every component of my pst file
away and start again,
Eventually it became clear from the tone of the microsoft engineer that he
had no idea what to do about the problem and that he wished I would go away.
So I did
Recently I have begun to explore the Outlook Object Model in vb6 to help a
client I am working with and this has revived interest in the problem. This
document must be in there somewhere. Can any one give me a clue as to where
to look, or has this problem been experienced before in this community
