I am having trouble deleting an unwanted internet address
from my history. Even though I clear the history the
address still appears as a prompt when I go to open
another site with the same first character. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.

The URLs shown under the address bar are stored under the following registry
key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs
and you can edit its content by Registry Editor.

Likely a Cool Web Search Spyware hijack.

Unzip the tool, hit the executable, follow the prompts.
Make sure that all instances of IE & OE are closed.
