Can anyone tell why on earth IE suddenly sorts all my Favorites
alphabeticly w/o me doing anything. AND why a System Restore does not
correct this. I spend ages getting the right sort order, and now all
is messed up AGAIN!!!! I hate those MS people. Can't their programs
leave our settings in peace when we don't ask for any changes :-(

Does anyone know where the Favorites sort order is stored?
It must be stored somewhere (registry or somewhere else).

Then maybe I can back it up (as System Restore doesn't do this) :-(

ARRRGGGHHHH !!!!!

Hi,
I don't know why that happens or how to prevent it, but exporting that
registry key is a good idea. The key is
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Explorer\
MenuOrder\ Favorites]
See: 177482- Start menu and Favorites menu are not listed in alphabetical
order:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=177482

You might consider creating new folders within Favorites in order to better
organize Favorites.

Also, having more than 193 shortcuts in a Favorites folder will interfere
with sorting.
See: 259735 - Favorites May Not Sort in Alphabetical Order
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q259735

Hope this helps,
Don

I have :-)

Hmmm... Is that including sub-folders? I sometimes see that when
adding a new shortcut, an older one suddenly moves to the bottom
