After receiving a lot of pop-ups, there is now a large
gray search bar at the bottom of the screen and a smaller
blue search bar at the top of the screen. They won't go
away. What are they, where did they come from, and how do
we rid ourselves of them?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Regards, Terry

I have the same issue. It is listed as an ISTbar. I can
hide the bar but I cannot change the content. I did not
load any of these links or go to any of them but I know
have a link shortcut on the Toolbar

Changed Subject so people can find this probem easier.

Browser hijacker parasite.
http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/ and look for ISTbar (note how many of
these nasties are around)

Get SpyBot available from
http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/ and update the reference files
through their Online update function. Run them and select all items and
remove.
You may have to reboot and rerun a couple of times to completely remove
them.
Also run the Immunize function to
prevent these nasties from installing again.

Get SpywareBlaster to stop these nasties.

Update the reference file through the online update function.

Removal Tool, your choice, novice users, Lavasoft's Ad-aware,
http://ftp.pcworld.com/pub/new/privacy___security/aaw6181.exe

Lavasoft/Ad-aware home: http://www.lavasoftusa.com

Advanced users, SpyBot Search & Destroy,
http://studserver.uni-dortmund.de/~su1669/spybotsd12.exe

SpyBot home: http://security.kolla.de/
SpyBot How-To: http://www.tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/

Install either but both are not necessary, reboot, read FAQ and overview, use
online update feature to obtain the latest reference files, scan for Spyware
much like you would with your pre-installed anti-virus scanner.
Rid your machine of unwanted Spyware pests.
