Why would I be getting a faint radio signal (sounds like NPR or some talk
station) coming through my speakers on its own? Suggestions for stopping
it? Thanks.
Either you live close to a transmitter and your speakers amplifier is badly
designed or someone near you is using some sort of personal transmitter to
boost a signal (like those things that allow you to watch TV in other
rooms)
It is possible for a poor electrical connection to form a freak diode effect
junction, given an amplifer on one end and a small length of wire at the
other you essentially have a crystal radio that will intercept AM
broadcasts.
Try and eliminate the reception source as much as possible. Does it happen
with the PC turned off and just the (presumably powered) speakers running ?
Does it happen with the audio cable unplugged from the PC ? Does the volume
control on your speakers affect the volume of the intercepted broadcast ?
