unwanted pop-up at start

Every time I start my computer I get a pop-up with the title 'server busy'
with the following dialog: This action cannot be completed because the other
program is busy etc. When I click on 'switch to' the start menu appears.

The following is recorded in the application event log at shutdown.

"Event Type: Warning

Windows saved user HOME\Lee registry while an application or service was
still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's
registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no
longer in use.

This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring
the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account."

The related KB suggests to do nothing but I don't want this appearing
everytime I switch my computer on.

Any solutions will be greatly appreciated
 
If you experience slow logoff (with Saving your settings for most of the
time while logging off), you are having profile unload problems.

If you see a lot of Userenv/1517, Userenv/1524 or Userenv/1500 errors in the
Event Viewer, download and install the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service.

This decreased my shutdown time a bunch. Takes any where from 10 to 20
seconds to shutdown.

C:\Program Files\UPHClean\uphclean.exe is added.

The User Profile Hive Cleanup service gets added to Services and
uphclean.exe will run all the time. I am one that doesn't like to have any
extra services running, but I am sold on UPHClean.

To automatically install it (you need uphclean-setup.msi):
- Double click the setup.msi

The service is set to automatically start when the computer boots so you
will not need to start it manually.

In fact, this MSKB article recommends:
"To resolve this issue, use the Microsoft User Profile Hive Cleanup Service
(UPHClean). UPHClean monitors the computer while Windows is unloading user
profiles and forces resources that are open to close. Therefore, the
computer can unload and reconcile user profiles."

Hi Wesley.

I have already tried that and it did not work. However on impulse I checked
the 'All Users' start menu and in the startup folder there was two Abode
files. (I have recently upgraded to acrobat reader 8). I have removed these
from this folder and have apparently cured the problem. If after a couple of
restarts or start ups there is no problem then I will say this was the cause.
Regarding the user profile hive cleanup I will still make use of it as it
sounds a really useful tool to have.
 
An update.

Firstly an apology to Abode. It was not their programs. After a couple of
restarts the problem re-surfaced. I systematically removed all start up
programs from all start up folders one by one and found the culprit to be my
speedtouch dial up progam.

I didn't even notice your other problem when I posted. I just replied to
the Userenv/1517 problem.
