unwanted pop-up as default page

Everytime I open IE it goes through an external website
before accessing my default page ie
if my default page is www.bigpond.com
it will go through ecpm.com/passthrough/index/bigpond.com
I tried reinstalling IE and also running adware but it
does not fix the problem
It identifies the problem as browser Hijaker in registry.
Does anyone have any advice on this

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

Next, go to the below location: Spyware and Hijackware Removal Support.
