Right-click the Desktop, click "Arrange By", and look for an option to
disable Active Desktop, or Web Items.. I don't remember the exact
sequence..

Hello Elmo: Tried your suggestion but that particular option 'Disable current
desktop" or "web Items" is not available.
Tried changing desk top background.....No Luck
Tried desk top clean up wizzard........... No Luck
Tried clicking on the Picture................. No action
The only way I can get rid of it is by creating a new user profile. Picture
does not show up on the new user screen.

any more suggestions??

Hello There:
I fixed it..... looks like the picture on the desktop was the result of an
attempt to put that picture as background. I located the picture (jpeg file)
and opened it, but to my surprise it opened up along with the application
utilized to format the picture before attemting to make it as background. I
cliked on the application options menu and gave me the option to close the
window so I did and the picture closed too.
It seems to me that the Lap top was shutdown for some reason without
properly closing the application, and everytime the pc started the
application opened up and showed the picture as being worked on.

Thanks for the help

OK, thanks for reporting your solution. If you're still reading this
thread, what program were you using to edit the jpeg?

Hello Elmo:
Is one of these new a web site for youngsters named "www.photofunia.com" do
not know what application they use, but once you open the page, you can do
funny stuff with your pictures and save them or send them to friends.

hope this helps
