I don't know what I've done but recently, everytime I open Word 2000, a
message box opens. It's headed 'User name' and asks 'Plaese enter your full
name and initials below. This information will be used in Office Workgroup
features'. There's a panel for name and initials. the name box already
reads 'A satisfied Microsoft Office user, the initials 'MSOffice'.

Even when a name and initial is entered this annoyance reappears when Word
is next opened How did this appear? How can I get rid of it??

Tia.

Try renaming the Normal.Dot template to Normal.Old and then restart Word and
see if the problem is gone. If it is, either a prankster or a virus has
infected your Normal.Dot template.

No, did that but it's still there.

More seriously I've found that Office can neither be repaired nor removed.
It freezes each time either option is chosen. In addition I've found
another application, Winzip, has developed an inexplicable bug. Instead of
unzipping a file it first installs itself again.

I think this is an instance where I either end up tearing my hair out at the
end of a frustrated day with the problems still unsolved, or spend the same
time doing a reformat and reinstalling everything?
