I just downloaded and installed the new drivers and Catalyst v4.12 for my 9800XT. It placed a link to Catalyst at the top of the "File" pull-down menu in Windows Explorer. Talk about arrogance. Anybody know how to get rid of it?

Thanks.

Uninstall the driver.

Redownload the driver, this time selecting the version that does not use
CCC. Just use the plain old control panel.

Reinstall driver (this should be the non-CCC driver package)

all done.

or simply go to Rage3d's Catalyst forum. There is a CCC FAQ I made there a
while back that has your question in it & explains how to remove the context
menu if you want to keep using CCC as well as addressing other issues some
have ran into.
http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33780305 Anyway here's the way
to do it in case you don't wanna visit the link:
Q) I don't like the Control Center entry in the context-menu of the desktop
A) how to remove it, without screwing around in registry:
Go to Start|Run... Then type in:
regsvr32 /U "C:\Programme\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\atiacmxx.dll" and ENTER.
You have to adjust the path to the dll, of course.
(for usa systems its more likely regsvr32 /U "C:\Program files\ATI
Technologies\ATI.ACE\atiacmxx.dll" )
Cheers
