How do I get unwanted folders to stop appearing on my Favorites list?
Everytime I reboot - I get the following:

-Shopping
-Sports
-Travel
-Autos
-Business & Home Office
-Dating
-Fitness
-Popular Sites

I delete them but they always come back! Thanks for any help.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Ted - I ran my McAfee Anti-Virus application and wiped out the only 3 adware
programs (and everything else) that showed up. The folders are still
appearing - even after I delete them and reboot. Yah!

Adware is too varied to be completely addressed by one program. In your
case, the proof is before you.

Where did you get your IE from? From your ISP perhaps?
This is the sort of thing which an IEAK can create
and in order to regenerate it the folder structure is included
in the registry. (The same way that the Links folder is included
and regenerated in all versions of IE.)

Look in the registry to see if that structure is there.
I suppose if you used the Organize Favorites tool to delete them
that it might also delete the associated registry entries too but I doubt it.
(In fact, now that I think about the Links case, probably not because
otherwise there probably wouldn't be so much complaining about
not being able to delete that folder. <w>) In any case the further away
you go from IE when deleting them the less likely it would be
that the complete registry/folder association would be known
and dealt with in an object-oriented manner.
