Mike

I just got a HP 8250, and I did not realise that in order
to install a small driver file, I must also take about
170 mb's of unwanted programs. I have my own software
and I do not want the stuff that HP has. During install
I am given the option of a full install (600 mb's)
or an express install (200 mb's) If I cant find a way to
install just the driver set, I will have to return the printer,
and go with a Canon model.

Does anyone know of a way to install just the driver set ?
I tried playing around with the inf files, on the included cd
but no luck.
Also this printer has a built in card reader, so windows xp
assigns it another drive letter. I did not mind the printer
so much, but the software part is drivin me nuts.

Please help with ideas
Thanks Mike

you should be able to go into printers, add a printer, let it pick up
the HP, and when it asks for a driver, point it to the CD. that should
load only the drivers and you'll be good to go.

Might work, but some drivers will not load properly that way. For
instance, sometimes those "extras" include things like ink level
monitors, or other properties like paper profiles which aren't
necessarily directly part of the driver.
