Unwanted Existing Audio

Hi! I am a total newbie at this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm getting along fine except the clips that I want to make a montage out of
already have audio with them. I want to get rid of the existing audio
because I want my own chosen music playing by itself. I have no problem
getting the NEW music in, just need to know how to get rid of the OLD music.
When I click on "Play," on the clip that I want to get rid of the music from,
the "Mute" is not highlighted so is not an option.

Drag the video clip to your time line.

Right click the Audio track and choose Mute.
