Unwanted Domains or Workgroups

Everytime a vendor plugs in a computer, it shows his domain or workgroup in
Windows network and doesn't go away.

How do I prevent this from happening in the future and How do I get rid of
the existing ones?

Thank you.

The only way to prevent it is not to let outside computers onto your network
or use a router to set up a logically separate network that can see yours
but not be seen. Generally an outside workgroup will go away after a while
unless the outside computer connects to your network again. The only way to
get rid of phantom workgroups faster is to shut down every PC and server on
your network at once and start them up again.

Add a router and set up a different IP network for visiting laptops to
access your network. If they just need Internet, any cheap broadband router
will do just fine. If they need access to things on your network, a real
router would be best. That'll prevent them from being able to broadcast to
your side.

Another trick, if your workstations are static IP addresses, is to give out
DHCP addresses to visitors with a different subnet mask (depending on how
much of your network they need access to). Then the broadcast addresses will
be wrong and you won't see them in My Network Places.
