unwanted desktop shortcuts

whenever I download a video file, I keep getting a
shortcut added to my desktop, how can I prevent the icon
from being added?????

A shortcut to the video file? You may be downloading these
video files to your desktop, which would explain why these
icons would appear. Change your download location.
