Unwanted Desktop Icon Appears

After closing MS Outlook Express, I sometimes get an icon
on my desktop titled " ~ ". It has a fle size of 220 kb.
I open it with Wordpad, and inbedded in the string of
boxes are names from my address book. Can anyone tell me
why this is occuring?
