My email server keeps getting changed from pop.earthlink.net to
127.0.0.1 in both of my email clients, Outlook Express and Mozilla.
Also my email account username occasionally gets changed as well. I
read somewhere that there is a virus that's known for doing this.

I'm running XP Pro.

Will appreciate any info.

No, but close. I'm running the latest McAfee AV, Firewall, Anti-Spam and
Privacy. Could be a setup problem with McAfee, I guess .......

GW:

Someone asked a similar question recently and I answered it recently

Some client-side spam filters (including mine - SpamPal -
http://www.spampal.org/usermanual/clients/oe/oe.html) require that your
email client's incoming mail POP3 be configured to "local host" or
127.0.0.1. I suspect that your McAfee spam filter is doing this. It is
probably not a setup problem with McAfee, but required for it to work.
Check the McAfee help for the spam filter to see what it says.

Good luck,

Steve
