Unwanted advertisements

I get popups and ads all the time. Is there a way to limit or stop the pop ups? Also, one of them pops up whenever I am in internet explorer (on any web page) and I right click on the page it shows an advertisement just above the properties link. How do I get rid of this and stop more in the future? Thanks for your help.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
