Using FP 2002

I have a folder at the root level called images. Also
have a folder called CSS for style sheets.

I have a template users use that calls images and style
sheets up from these two folders. To keep all pages the
same.

The users only have permissions for there particular
folders under the root level.

The users get a login prompt when opening a page that
uses the root level CSS and Images folder. If they close
the page, FP will crash.

Is the only solution to add all the users to the CSS and
Images folder? I already have everyone with read access,
so why would this happen?

I noticed that I have the CSS and Images set up as a
folder and not a web?

The users are using webs, can this cross over from web to
folder causing this?

You can't control permissions by folder - only by web and/or subwebs
- yes they need access to all files/folders in the web
If running the FP2002 SE you can limit some of the users roles/rights
Use http://localhost/_sharepoint/fpadmdll.dll?page=disable.htm

What you are trying to do is best controlled w/ FP2003 using Dynamic Web Templates
- all users would have to be on FP2003
