Hello.

Does anyone know what it means when one of the HD icons looks like in
the following screenshot (with the green markings)?

http://www.ibbu.nl/~nsprakel/hd_icon.jpg

How do I restore the HD to the normal settings, so is properly
installed and has the standard icon like the other HDs in the
computer?
Is it just the icon that has been modified somehow, or does the
altered icon indicate the HD is somehow configured or installed in a
different way compared to the other HDs in the computer?
In XP disk management, I don't see anything unusual about the HD with
the weird icon and it lists the HD as being installed properly. But
somehow the HD seems slower than the other HDs in the system (it's the
only SATA HD in the computer, the other drives are either PATA or
external USB2 drives).

Kind regards and thanks in advance for any help.

Kinda hard to see.But if it's got a green arrow then it's normal.Although
mine is located in my Quicklaunch(Windows 2000/sp4) at the bottom right. It's
an icon for a hot swappable SATA drive(I think). I can make it go away by
double-clicking and unchecking hide/show.

You should be able to click on the screenshot to view it at optimal
resolution. Although
the language in the screenshot is Dutch, that doesn't really matter
because the icon is the same
no matter what the language of the operating system is.
Anyway, in a different newsgroup someone suggested deleting
'autorun.inf' on the drive and that restored the icon to the default
one.
