Unusual DNS Behaviour

Hi,

I was using the internet thru DSL connection for a long time without
any problem, but a few days back my DSL connection got discontinued
due to some technical problem with our telephone exchange.

Now since last week I am using a new CDMA Fixed wireless phone to
access the Internet thru Dial Up but I am facing very unusual
behaviour from the DNS which fails to resolve many a times and
resolves a few times (Fail or success happens on the basis of one full
session of PC Boot to Shut down), means it doesn't resolve any URL in
a complete session evenif I connect/discconect with my ISP any number
of times in that session). I can access the sites thru IP Address all
the times but not thru URL.. I tried changing the DNS Servers to no
avail most of the times. The Ping and Tracert returns "Unknow Host",
but interestingly the nslookup succesfully resolves the IP for a
url...

I am using Windows 2000 Pro..

Any idea what exactly is the problem and how to rectify it?

thanks in advance

You'll need to post your full configuration, such as:

What is offering NAT, unless the pro machine is the only thing on the
network?
Are you using a router or just the modem?
Do you have AD on the network?

Maybe this is something you'll need to ask your ISP. It can also be an MTU
issue, especially if the line is ADSL. That you'll have to test for
yourself:
