I have a Sony Vaio (Windows XP) with 512 megs ram split
between two hard drives. One hard drive is empty. I just
purchased a new Canon Digital Video Camera with software.
Is it practical to load the software and videos on the
empty drive or will I be losing some of Windows XP
features ??

When you install your software and store your videos, just make sure that
they are assigned to your second hard drive. Make sure in the future that
changes in your hard drive structure do not change the drive letter for this
drive.

Hi Richard,

If you only have 512 MB, then you hardly would have room for WinXP. I
suspect you have 512MB of ram, but considerably more hard drive space. It is
perfectly safe to install the software to the second drive or partition, you
will lose no features in doing so.

I think you need a course in computers

The 512mb ram would be system memory. Where programs are loaded so that
XP can use them

The Harddrive space on the other hand, is storage. Where programs and
data files are stored waiting to be used. If you onlt had 512mb Harddrive
soace. you woyuld not have been able to install XP ( Or, any current vesion
of Windows ).

Also, Programs nor Windows care which drive a program is installed to.
Windows features are not Harddrive specific.
