Hi all,

I am trying to connect to a windows 2000 terminal server
but recieve the following error message.

"the client could not connect to the terminal server. the
server may be busy.please try connecting later."

From the troubleshooting guide i have been asked to check
the following 3 things
- Ensure Termianl services is setup - it is setup
- Ensure the maximum connection limit has not been met -
there are no logons at this time
- It could be due to a netwrok error.try again later - i
have tried connecting on numerous occassions for the past
week with the same problem.

Any Ideas?
Many Thanks

Can others logon to this terminal server from different workstations/terminals

If no, try logging onto the server console

If yes, check the terminal server event logs for items like "Event ID 1004" , "The terminal server cannot issue a client license"

If this event ID is generated when you try to logon, but there are TS Licenses avaialble, and others can logon, you can

Delete the following registry key on the client, reboot the client (Key is regenerated), assign users "Full Control" of this registry key, then try logging on

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSLicensin

No-one can logon to the terminal server. This may seem a
silly question but what do you mean by logging onto the
server console?

Thanks

Yes i can logon no problem via the server console. I am
hoping to use terminal services in remote administration
mode but i have also used tried logging on in application
mode without success. I use the administrators account. I
have not installed any licences as i believe this is not
required for remote administration mode.

Walk up to the server and try to logon using the
keyboard that is physically connected to the server.
